October and November Payout Changes

There has been some discussion of gross payouts instead of just net payouts.  In October, we will have a “Gross Only” flight.  If someone wants to be in that flight, they must communicate that with an email to the WWGA email box by Sunday, October 4th. Players in that flight will be playing for gross only prizes.  A minimum of 50% of the flight will be paid (just like we do with the net flights).

In November, we will do flights as we currently do, but will pay gross and net in each flight, a minimum of 50% of the flight will be paid.  If there is an odd number of players being paid in any flight, the extra payout will be net.  If there is an even number of players being paid in any flight, the number of payouts will be equal between gross and net. A player may win only gross OR net, not both. Gross will be paid out first, then net.

After this test, we will survey the membership for their feedback.  Please try to attend both events.

October at Encanto

Registration is open for the October 11 event at Encanto Golf Course. Tee times start at 8:00am. We have 40 spots available for this event, so registration will be on a first come first served basis.  You get on the list when your money is received.

The October event will be Stableford Points, where you earn points based on how well you play each hole (net).  No points earned for net double bogey or worse (so you can pick up if you would like), 1 point for net bogey, 2 points for net par, 3 points for net birdie, 4 points for net eagle, 5 points for net albatross. Please arrive early so that you have time to pay, get paired up, and be at the first tee at least 5 minutes before your tee time.

Save the date for our Novmer 15 event at Aguila Golf Course. It will be here before you know it.

December Club Championship at Encanto

The Club Championship, a 2 consecutive day event in early December (Saturday and Sunday December 5 & 6 at Encanto), is approaching. To be eligible to play, you must have played in 4 events with the club prior to that time. This is a fun event and there are gross and net flight winners, as well as the overall gross and net Champions. We would love to see all who are eligible support this event. So come out and get in your 4 rounds before then. If you do not qualify for the Club Championship, you are welcome to play on Sunday the 6th in a separate event.

We can't forget that these events take a village to put together. A shout out to Bob Pancratz, Facility Manager-Head Golf Professional, for hosting a great event and his continued support of women's golf in Phoenix. A big thanks to Jeff (Assistant Manager), Greg (Director of Golf), Mark (Maintenance Supervisor), and Tobbey (Golf Course Superintendent), for their efforts (and I suspect many long days) in making this year's event such a success. We also can't forget the Food and Beverage Manager, Rick and his staff for hosting lunch on Saturday. Smiles all around.

Congratulations Roxie!

Carol Sumner also had a strong showing, finishing fifth and winning a skin. Congratulations to Roxie and Carol on their great performances!

Congratulations Jordan, Carol and Brenda!

Jordan achieved 1st net in her flight at the 2025 Arizona Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Boulders Golf Club, played May 8-10.
